Wild Piñata

Wild piñatas are piñatas who are not residents of the garden. Wild piñatas are black and white in Viva Piñata and Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, or grayscale in Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise, until they become residents, where they will fade into their normal colors. Each piñata species has its own unique requirements, which must be met before they will become a resident. There are also requirements that need to be met before a wild piñata will even appear outside of your garden. For example, a Newtgat needs at least one watercress growing in the garden to visit, and has to eat 3 to become a resident.

When a Wild Piñata becomes a resident for the first time in Viva Piñata, a modal cutscene will play showing the transformation to a resident piñata, and a music effect is played while the cutscene plays. In Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise, a series of images will appear on the top screen when a piñata becomes resident for the first time and a happy music track will play. In Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise the modal cutscene will not play immediately, but the music effect will. The modal cutscene can be watched by viewing the alert that appears.

"Wild Piñatas" are shown in the episode Wild Horstachios. In this episode, wild Piñatas are shown to appear more like how they appear in Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise, being grayscale instead of purely black and white.
