Viva Piñata, the first game in the Viva Piñata game series.

The Viva Piñata game series is a series of video games in the Viva Piñata franchise. There are four main games in the series released between 2006 and 2008, Viva Piñata, Viva Piñata: Party Animals, Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, and Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise. The main games in the series are garden simulation games, though Viva Piñata: Party Animals is instead a minigame collection game.

Viva Piñata[]

Viva Piñata is the first game in the series, being released on November 9, 2006 originally for the Xbox 360 console. It was later released for Microsoft Windows as a Games for Windows Live program on November 6, 2007. It is a garden simulation game. Most of the mechanics found in the other garden simulation games in the series originated from this game, such as Evolution and variant piñatas. Players use tools such as the shovel and watering can to sculpt the garden to attempt to attract piñatas to the garden.

Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise is the third game in the series. It is a sequel to the first Viva Piñata game, and as such it is also a garden simulation game. New mechanics were introduced such as network multiplayer and more advanced local co-op, two new garden zones, the Piñarctic and the Dessert Desert, in which players must capture piñatas using traps, new minigame modes, the Great Piñata Paperchase and the P-Factor, and a Langston challenge.

Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise is the fourth and currently final game in the series. It was specifically designed for the Nintendo DS console, meaning that most of the gameplay controls are implemented to take advantage of the system's touch screen. Like most games in the series, it is also a garden simulation game. Despite being a sequel to the original game, some mechanics were simplified, such as variant piñatas, accessories, and some were stripped away such as Wildcard piñatas.
