Episodes are the tutorials in Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise. There are twelve of these episodes, and each episode starts out with a portion of an episode of the television series being played. During this, a host will explain the topic of the episode in a text prompt. After this the host will guide the player though completing the episode, explaining topics such as alerts, camera movement, and fights. After completing the episode another clip from the TV series is shown.
The first episode is automatically unlocked by creating a new profile, and the next three episodes are unlocked by completing the previous episode. These episodes must be complete before the main game mode can be started. Other episodes are unlocked by obtaining the ability to do a related action that an episode will explain. When an episode is unlocked during gameplay the player will receive a pop up message that asks to enter the episode or not. If the episode is opened the previous garden will be saved and quit temporarily to enter the tutorial garden.
