There are 88 unique piñata species live on Piñata Island (technically 97 as Flutterscotch color variations are unique species themselves), and while they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, they have a lot in common. By doing certain things or changing the garden in certains way, different species of Wild Piñatas can be attracted. Some species don’t even exist until they're created by doing something to another species! Each species has a different set of requirements to appear in the world, visit a garden, become a resident of the garden, and romance with another piñata. In addition to having a unique personality, each Piñata has a specific type of candy that it contains themed after the animal. Piñatas love eating candy.

Each species has its own likes and dislikes, whether it be certain flowers or trees, a bit of sand, snow, or grass, or a pond to swim in.

Most species have three wild-card versions that are very rare. Also, most species have three variant colors that they can change into if certain requirements are met.
