Great Piñata Paperchase

The Great Piñata Paperchase minigame.

The Great Piñata Paperchase is a racing mini-game in Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise. Four piñatas participate in the race. The track is a linear straight course and is set to have one to nine laps by the host, and by default has three laps.

Loather crates can be picked up during the race, awarding the racer with three Loather bombs, which can then be launched forwards like a rocket or deployed behind them, or kept to protect against Loather attacks from behind. When a piñata hits a Loather they will slow down, and when a Loather hits another Loather both will break.

There are nine racing lanes, and all racers can switch between them. Each species has a different favorite surface type in which they will go noticeably faster. When a piñata races on a favorite surface type, an arrow icon will appear. Surfaces such as Deep Water, Sand, Snow, Grass, and Soil are in the race. The terrain appears to be randomly generated for the race.

In the background of the race track stores such as Costolot's Store and Gretchen Fetchem's can be seen.

Some characters only appear in the mini-game modes. They are Carrie Chewdini, Sahari, Sparticus, Maxime, Nana Urf, Jeffe, Babochka, Eddie Lizard, and Bear A. Maracus.
